Carl Edward Krause, a seaman/marine in the Imperial German Navy, compiled an illustrious photo album during the years 1910-1911 while he was stationed aboard the S.M.S. Gneisenau, World War I, armored cruiser that was launched in 1906. After many more service cruises, this ship was scuttled and sunk in action during a battle near the Falkland Islands in 1914. The highlights illustrated within these photos document the ship’s 1910-1911 far east cruise.
